About This Position
The Quantum Information Group led by Professor James Harrington at the University of Oxford is inviting applications for a fully-funded DPhil (PhD) position in quantum computing. This position is funded through an EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) grant and covers full university fees and a living stipend. Oxford's Department of Physics is world-renowned for quantum research, and you will be part of an internationally leading research group with close collaborations with IBM Quantum, Google Quantum AI, and IQM. The research project will focus on developing novel quantum error correction protocols for near-term quantum devices, with both theoretical and experimental components. You will have access to state-of-the-art quantum hardware in Oxford's quantum labs and opportunities to visit leading quantum computing companies during the PhD. The ideal candidate has a strong background in physics or computer science, with knowledge of quantum mechanics. Strong mathematical ability and programming skills (Python, Qiskit) are essential.
